2022 has continued to be a success for equity crowdfunding raises for breweries and distilleries with the Republic of Fremantle welcoming 450 new shareholders, raising $1,028,000.

Founded in the portside suburb of Fremantle, Western Australia, The Republic have since taken the domestic market by storm with their range of international award winning spirits.

The distillery hand crafts Australian spirits from scratch, with a flagship range of vodka and gin. They also run a Bar + Kitchen and offer a variety of immersive experiences from Gin School to Cocktail School to a tour of the Distillery.

With Glide in charge of digital strategy, the distillery’s offer collected more than $600k within the first week of opening, marking a promising start to the new financial year.

Republic of Fremantle’s Head of Sales and Marketing, Mary-Anne Stupart said the response from the campaign, especially from the local Fremantle and Perth markets, had been overwhelmingly positive.

“The Republic of Fremantle was born out of the desire to create world class spirits from scratch and a genuine, long-standing passion for true craft distilling.

“We’re so excited that 450 investors decided to join us in our next chapter, as we expand our distribution nationally and Internationally, and develop new products to meet changing consumers’ needs.”

Despite market volatility during 2022, the equity crowdfunding sector appears to be bucking the trend, with Aussies pouring more than $86 Million into equity crowdfunding raises in 2021/22.
